• ’Skate Therapy’ is a method of teaching individuals skate by helping them to understand the (4) pillars of learning to skate.1) body balance, 2) skate control, 3) skate movement & 4) stops.

The goal is to build self-confidence in the skater by helping the skater to think only about moving in their skates, and not think about falling. The goal of ‘Skate Therapy’ is to teach individuals to skate by learNing to skate to a cadence. We teach the to follow the bottom beats of music so they have a better understanding of how long they have to maintain balance on one skate before transferring their weight to step to the other skate. This method of teaching helps for a smooth transition while doing the basic fundamentals of Aims, Leans & Push-offs.🛼

The Activity Of Roller Skating

The activity of roller skating, from it’s most comprehensive point of view, is a recreational and socially motivated activity. Since the early 1800’s, skating has been a strong American tradition that just about every American has done. Skaters who have learned to skate the proper way have an understanding of the basic fundamentals that will allow them to have a safe and fun skating experience. It will help them glide gracefully and in control around the skating floor. Each skating technique or skate movement must be performed in a precise manner to produce a smooth roller skating motion.

Skaters, on average, can be classified in two ways: the controlled skater or the uncontrolled skater.

A controlled skater is the type of skater who works hard at maintaining good skating posture as well as a good understanding of body balance and skate movement. These skaters tend to display discipline while performing different skating disciplines and movements. The beauty of skating as a controlled sport is that it allows the skater to concentrate more on their movements, which allows for self-expression and fun. Also, a controlled skater is a skater who works to blend their skating style in with the skating crowd and not have the skating crowd adjust to their individual style of skating.

The uncontrolled skater is a type of skater that will skate around the skating floor as if no one else is skating but themselves. These types of skaters tend to create their own stage to get a crowd response with very little consideration for other skaters.
